UTERINE MIOMA
EMBOLIZATION
case_001_06

Patient of 44 years of age who consults due to hipermenorrea and vesical tenesmo .  As antecedent of interest 2 pregnancies are emphasized.  The ecofrafía reveals a mioma of  intramural location of 8cm of diameter (see image of magnetic resonance ).

Due to she still desired to achieve another pregnancy and the surgery (miomectomía) did not assure her the conservation of the uterus, she decided to try the embolization.

Procedure was carried out without complications, utilizing small particles (micro spheres) of 500-700 microns, achieving a complete occlusion of the arteries that fed the mioma.

The patient referred moderate pain  after the intervention, which was handled with common analgesic  and after 48 hs he left the hospital.

CONCLUSIONS
The embolization represents a most minimum invasive alternative for the intervention of miomas.  Between the 78 and the 94% of the women with embolized miomas, experience a complete or almost complete disappearance of the bleeding, the pain or other related symptoms.  In spite of the fact that the late effects of the embolization in the fertility of women have not been still well determined due to limited experience, they have been reported in the literature world numerous successful pregnancies after the embolization.
